After the Ballots

What the most expensive midterms ever taught us

The 2026 midterms was the most expensive in history with political ad spending reached $11 billion.  That's more than the entire 2024 presidential cycle. Broadcast still takes the lion share of those dollars, but the rise of CTV, influencers,  and emerging platforms has made this year one for the record books.

More money doesn’t buy more attention, though. Voters are buried in ads, texts and fundraising asks. AI is speeding up creative versioning and personalization while raising new questions about disclosure and trust. Hyper-targeting is putting a different message in front of every household on the block.

Join us for a tradition like no other at MediaPost's 14th annual Marketing Politics conference where we’ll unpack what the midterms revealed, where the money flowed, which tactics actually moved voters, and what campaigns on both sides of the aisle are carrying into 2028.

Don't Take Our Word For It

"All politicians in Washington need to make sure to send their campaign managers to MediaPost's Marketing Politics conference. Less than that would be pure trial and error that may cost them large sums with low ROI."
